Have you seen any of his films or read any of his books?
I haven't seen his most recent film about the healthcare industry, and I
don't dislike all of his work, I really enjoyed his old series TV Nation, I
thought it was very well done.
In the aft section of his books, he has near comprehensive complilations
full of references, citations, copies of documents that back up his
claims.
He has a staff of researchers and lawyers along with a conservative critic
who as a team proofread what he writes and cross-check the news reports
before publishing. He's not a liar. He's an artist and in art one has to
exaggerate
a bit especially when using a 2-dimensional medium to present 3D reality.
He's also a comedian and that requires some exaggeration too.
Then Moore should give back his Oscar for best documentary seeing as how he
eventually admitted that the movies he makes are entertainment rather than
documentaries in the usual meaning of the term. Besides, he's been caught
on the wrong side of the line too many times starting with Roger & Me where
he played fast and loose with some of the facts to make his story more
compelling. It's one thing to use suggestive techniques that lead the
audience to draw a conclusion without coming right out and saying something,
it's another to outright fabricate evidence as when he super-imposed a fake
headline on a shot of a newspaper's front page in F9/11, the newspaper was
upset enough they threatened to sue. The manager of the bank where he got a
rifle for opening an account in BFC pointed out that the way it really
happened was not what Moore put in his film, he didn't walk in, fill out a
form and pick up a gun, the background check was done long before and the
rifles had to be picked up a dealer, the scene in the movie was staged for
that purpose, and so on and so forth. BTW, speaking of his staff he once
tried to stop some of them from joining a union, namely the Writer's Guild,
kind of ironic considering that working-class hero schtick he plays with the
baggy bluejeans and grubby baseball cap.
Did you see
"Canadian Bacon"?
Sadly I did, what a lame movie.
What's really appalling is how that hatemongering loudmouth *still* has
credibility with his listeners. But they must be a bunch of inbred hicks
and lemming drones if they still buy his bull***. After all, they don't
call themselves dittoheads for no reason.
I hoped you don't take this the wrong way, but the demeaning labels and
name-calling are counter-productive, and it doesn't matter whether it's Rush
Limbaugh using them or someone like yourself, they just don't contribute
anything useful to the conversation. Yeah, we've all done it me included,
but that doesn't make it any less juvenile.
