I've had this Sundown tube amp for a bunch of years now -- had it servicedSomething high voltage - rectifier or a power tube or leaky filter
about 5 years ago, but haven't played it much since. The other day, while
playing at low bedroom volumes, it blew a fuse. After replacing the fuse,
it seemed fine for about 5 minutes, then blew it again, so I guess I'm
going to have to bring it in to somebody - In the meantime, I'm wondering
what might be likely to have cause the proble (i.e., what I might be
looking at in terms of repairs). Thanks

cap, perhaps a power supply resistor breaking down under
voltage. Not likely a transformer unless you had a wrong fuse,
like a high amp automotive fuse instead of one of the correct
value.
Before simply replacing tubes, have a look inside and look for
any indications of burning components. If everything looks ok,
*then* try subbing out tubes or put in yet another fuse and keep
an eye on the tubes for the 5 minutes to see if some tube starts
arcing or glowing weirdly. Then again, you could sort of accelerate
that time by tapping on the tubes while the amp is on and you
are observing them for malfunctions.
Let's us know what you find.
Good luck,
Ed
