They should have been treated more harshly than the white kids, physical
violence is always on a different level from insulting or offensive
behavior, six guys knocking down one and then stomping on his head is not
the same crime as making an offensive display of racial intolerance. I
think the principal had the right idea when he tried to expel the
noose-hanging students, too bad he was over-ruled by the school board, but
sending those kids to jail for what they did would have been excessive, they
didn't spill any blood, violent trumps offensive anytime.
Huh? Are you saying a hate crime is not offensive enought to warrant
expulsion from school? Are you saying that putting up a noose in
public, on a school ground, is not just as offensive as assalt? Why
don't you share with us just what you think punishment should be for
hate crimes

I think you need to indeed have a talk with your parents as Steve
suggests.
