And I find Twang's arguments lucid and compelling...
all Hobs has is argumentum ad assertum and ad hominem.
It's irony-laden statements like this that put Mr. Cowell into my killfile.
Twang can rarely get through a paragraph without childish name-calling, and
as often as not his arguments boil down to, 'Because I say so.' If that is
lucid and compelling then my dictionary must need updating.
And this, from Hobbes in the White Bitches thread:
<Hobbes@spnb&s.com> wrote:
Unlike
the semiliterate black population that liberals so fulsomely praise
as "well-spoken" one really must learn the language to speak
well and express complex thoughts and emotions.
Could that be just a slip of phrasing--in the middle of his claim to
proficiency with language and complex expression? That would be
retarded in itself, but I don't think it left much room for
interpretation. So I wouldn't exactly hold Hobbes up as a paragon of
moral virtue.
I found that an oddly disturbing phrase myself, but then I was responding to
a different post in a different thread. And I wasn't aware that I was
holding up anyone as a paragon of anything, I merely contrasted one poster's
well-spoken and reasoned argument in one thread with the juvenile
potty-mouth ranting of another.
I've read a lot of Twang's posts. He posts some compelling arguments,
and no matter who on aga agrees with his views, he's no bigot.
Perhaps he has posted such arguments and I've just missed them, I had him in
the killfile for some time as I typically found his remarks ill-conceived
and pointlessly insulting; with a new computer it's apparently necessary to
rebuild the killfile.
BTW, would your definition of bigotry include a deep-seated and often
irrational hatred of religion?
Below are the highlights of one of Twang's recent posts, if you honestly
consider these words well-reasoned and compelling well then I guess we don't
need to discuss the man's writing any further, because to me these looks
like the words of an immature and ill-informed person badly in need of a
remedial English class and perhaps some anger-management sessions as well.

*** you.
I am offended by your lies, distortions, and fakery.
that's a lie, too.
for chrisake, ha!, Mrs. Murray was called the most hated woman in
america.
why do you lie? are you just stupid?
and I don't particularly like you calling my opinion screed, when your
own is so full of total ***.
anyone who reads any amount of history of the christian religion sees
clearly that christianity has been opposed to freedom wherever it has
found a place to screw itself into the ground.
those priests were no less illiterate than the leaders.. who are you
trying to ***?
not kill each other so much? my god what a laugh!
you truly are ignorant of all of history.
religion and science are heavily wrapped as a boa constrictor is
wrapped around a human.
religion chokes humantity. it swallows freedom.
fucking bull*** about commies being atheists again. *L*
read a book.
hitler said I was born a catholic and I will die a catholic.
go watch the documentary 'the nasty girl. and discover how the
christian church helped adolph.
again. you are an idiot.
this is clear. and I'm sorry I replied to this thread.
you are simply so far off on your historical data, and such a firm
believer in your own lies, there's really no point.
*** you and the horse you rode in on.
no they aren't. in fact, they have proved time and again throughout
history to be parasitical to freedom and economic success, and the
first to promote violence and stifle freedom.
any child ought to be aware of this.
I'm insulting you because you are a liar. An ignorant person who
promotes a stupid agenda
towards no good end.
You insulted me several times, by the way,and not in response.
again.. you distort. it's boring.
that's so fucking funny.... *L*
you are saying we always knew we had rights.. but we didn't have them
until the const. gave the to us..
the fact is, we always wanted rights, but the church and various
devious leaders prevented it.
