You know....10 years ago, most Americans would say that could never
happen here. Some of the more naive folks may still think so.
Watch and learn people. The Bush/Cheney war machine hasn't given up
yet!
After reading the above article, I think the author makes perfect
sense. I've heard some of the same rumblings, via other channels.
"Via other channels," LOL.
There is never a shortage of conspiracy addicts, propagandists and outright
kooks coming up with whacko theories. But however amusing it might be to
listen to their ravings from time to time, at some point you need to peel
yourself away from your computer screen and consider whether their fantasies
survive exposure to sunlight.
Can you see the military going along with something like this, your local
cops, the millions of govt. employees who would be needed to make it work?
Just as with the bizarre 9/11 fantasies in which the govt. staged the
attacks, the number of people needed to pull off something like that would
be so large and the likelihood of it happening in secret so small that it
becomes farcical. However that doesn't stop some folks, like Paul Craig
Roberts, the author of this article by the way, from speculating that there
is something fishy about the collapse of the WTC, he isn't an engineer and
yet he claims it is impossible for the towers to have collapsed as they did.
He flat-out says any examination of 9/11 that accepts the official
explanation of the WTC collapse is "obviously false," case closed.
Roberts also says the mainstream news media are "a de facto ministry of
propaganda" for the Bush administration, which would probably come as a
surprise to the right wing which is constantly complaining the media have a
strong liberal bias. Roberts also believes that the real aim of American
foreign policy is to destroy all Arab govts. that aren't U.S. puppets so
Israel can absorb the Palestinians without trouble, yeah, there's a
convincing theory. Here's a cute quotation from him, "Today the US media is
owned by 5 giant companies in which pro-Zionist Jews have disproportionate
influence." Maybe that's why the original poster in this thread left Time
magazine, too much control by pro-Zionist Jews.
But what the hell, if this guy says Bush is about to seize power in a coup,
then it must be true, right?
Get real. This ain't Germany in the early '30s with worthless currency,
massive unemployment and warring political parties fighting it out in the
streets, it's self-delusion to pretend otherwise. You'd need to be a total
Dale Gribble to swallow this fable, especially when you consider all the
previous versions that have come and gone like morning mist.
Yeah, the Bush administration has demonstrated incompetence and corruption
and foolishness beyond what most administrations are able to achieve, and
like somebody once said, it's hard to distinguish sufficiently advanced
incompetence from malice. But that doesn't justify buying into every
wingnut fantasy that comes down the pike, especially those advocated by
someone who appears to be way out on a very strange fringe. However amusing
such theories might be, actually taking them seriously is a fool's errand.
The only conspiracy theory that makes any sense to me is that
someone successfully conspired to breed and raise a few generations
of semi-sentient humanoids stupid enough to believe & regurgitate
every dumbass conspiracy theory that floats by.
This thread is at least a partial validation or that theory
.
