Recapped the filters, eh? What brand? Sprague Atoms?
If so, did you shake them near your ears before installing them?
Every now and then one can get a brand new defective Atom
from their distributor. You may have to pull them all back out
and shake them or you could tap on them directly while in the
amp while it's on and hooked up to a speaker. If any of them
rattle inside or pop from tapping on it - Bingo, that's the
culprit. Get a replacement and be sure to shake that one too
before you install it. I've had at least 6-7 rattle even though
they were brand new. The first 2 though, I had to find out the
hard way - they were installed in the amp and making popping
noises.

I'd rule out the speaker first.

Ok, I misread the post. Didn't really need you to broadcast it all
over the place, that is unless you think it's your job to advertise
my petty mistakes. It's still good advice for other situations
even if not applicable to this amp's problem(s).
