Hello All,
I have a late 70's Vibrosonic Reverb with a JBL D130f speaker that
sounds real clean and is as loud as can be. It works well for chicken
pickin and steel guitar and good solid rhythm guitar.
I re-capped it when I got it because two of the lytics were
"pregnant".
Both before and after the re-cap, I've noticed a "pop" when the amp it
turned up past 5 with the master volume to ten. The pop comes with
the beginning of attack and I've tried to figure out if it is just the
initial pick attack or something electrically wrong. I have tapped
the tubes, banged the amp to see if there is a loose solder joint,
tightened up the tube sockets, treated the pins with Caig Pro-Gold,
changed the power tubes -- the initial pop persists when the amp is
turned up. I've watched the power tubes in a dark room while playing
to see if the pop corresponds with any light show, and the answer is a
big no.
Any thoughts on this phenomenon?
Thanks!
Paul
JBLs do that when you over power them.
