The other day I fired up my Boogie Studio .22+ and when I plugged in I
found my volume had all but dissapeared (I could faintly hear my
guitar if I ran the volume up around 7-8 in both channels.) Assuming
I needed new power tubes I went out shopping for a nice pair of EL84s,
got them home, swapped the tubes, flicked the power switch, got all
emotionally geared up for some face-melting high voltage rock and.....
NOTHING. There was absolutely no improvement.
You should have tried speaker first... tubes don't
just lose all volume, unless a fuse blows too.
Next, try bypassing effects loop, if it has one.
Work all controls, switches, jacks to see if
dirt etc is in the contacts. Make sure you're
using the normal speaker jack, not the extension
one (if it's like Fender).
No luck? Tech time...
