Igor. Thats gotta be about the d---st damned question that I've ever
heard in my life. Guys were tapping on their guitar necks long before EVH
was even a gleem in his dads eyes. EVH hasnt invented any damned thing for
guitar playing or technique. If he hadnt of come onto the scene then rock
would have to done without the classic teeny bopper songs like Jump and
Teacher . I mean his place in rock is at least as large as Bobby
Sherman,Donny Osmond,David Cassidy.

Yeah, picturing EVH as influential on the level of Hendrix is bizarre. Of
course my own bias enters into that, I thought rock had become such a joke
in the 80s that I spent more time listening to jazz and classical. Bands
like Van Halen were part of what made rock boring for me back then.
