you must replace ALL the electrolytic capacitors,
not just the filter caps
you must replace ALL the tubes,
you must replace any silicone rectifiers with modern diodes
(suspect you have at least 1 shorted rectifier)
you must install a grounded AC cord
the grounded cord will not help the hum, its for safety.
you must find a good tube tech, like ELVIS
you will not do this yourself to avoid shocking
the living *** out of yourself.
but overall you will have a pretty cool amp
when its done. amen.
when you look for a tech, don't hire one just because
he works for derrick trucks band. hire one because
other musicians recommend him and like him.
hire a tech with lots of tube amp experience.
just because a tech is listed in the phone book
does not mean they know about old vox amps.
