OT - Not all scientists . . . opinion

Plenty of folks would have you believe that ALL scientists are in agreement, and there is a "consensus".

Note that the writer doesn't promote polluting with indifference, just putting things in perspective.

IMO, this quote is the essence of the debate...

"There is no way we can predictably manage this most complex of coupled, nonlinear chaotic systems."

I'm waiting for a 'consensus' of *scientists* to state otherwise, because if not, due consideration should be given to the economic impact of efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.

Pollution is bad... but there it is. Garbage, trash, nuclear waste, pesticides, fertilizer, animal waste, chemicals waste, etc, etc, etc... ALL continue...
Minimizing it is valid and worthwhile, but at what 'expense'..???

IMHO, Gore does as much to hurt his own 'cause' as help it. Preaching to the choir as he does, he alienates all those who don't trust him. If the press hadn't discovered his home energy usage, no doubt he'd never had begun his move to 'green' personally. After 30yrs (his claim) of concern about global warming, it is NOW that he decides to get green himself...??? Please....

Gore is merely following Moore in presenting highly edited, extremely generalized, very premature 'conclusions', as certainty. All the while using tons of energy himself, without any attempt at moderation. The fact that Gore hopes to make lots of money from his efforts casts further doubt on his sincerity.

And... he's a politician.

Imagine a politician going around touting nuclear energy to save the planet while owning a nuclear energy company... There are plenty of folks who howl about any politician who has conflicts of interest involving their 'views'... yet, lots of people are giving Gore a 'pass' on his. Does Gore mention at his speeches that he is founding member of a corp that sells offsets..?? Does he mention that he gets paid, and accepts compensation to speak about global warming...?? Where are his disclaimers..??

Time for amp discussion..??

Which is more 'green'... tube amps or solid state..???
Is that 200 watt head REALLY needed or will a 50 watt do fine and be less 'polluting'...??
How much 'offset' should we buy to cover the greenhouse gases produced by our amps...??
Maybe some of you tech/scientists can 'do the math' to figure out the energy used to produce a tube amp, and that which it uses.
Which will be the first 'green' amp company...??? (Is there one currently..??)
Who will cut their use of lighting at shows in order to conserve energy..??? (Pink Floyd will never be the same...)

FWIW... I personally own and run a tube amp recylcing company. Anyone with a tube amp (complete with tubes please) can send it along and I'll recycle it, for free. Do your part for a cleaner earth and send any under used or other tube amps to me... in the meantime I'll continue to look for them myself. ;-)
