On Mon, 14 Aug 2006 20:31:53 GMT, Lord Valve <detritus@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
did courageously avow:

THE PITCH:

Fine previously owned glass thermionic
amplification devices! First batch is
12AX7/ECC83 and 7025 only - other numbers
to follow when they're ready to ship.

*ALL* of these tubes passed every test a
new tube must pass - the exceptions being
the ones that passed every test besides
microphonics screening, which are listed
as "B" grade, suitable for tremolo oscillators
and other less critical stages. All were
cleaned, had the pins straightened, etc.
They're ready to rock.

There were over 450 tubes in the batch to
begin with; only 187 passed my screening,
which was rigorous. The ones that didn't
make the grade are in the dumpster behind
my store. (Dive in!)

Some of these tubes bear different logos from
the actual manufacturers, i.e. Fender-badged
GE or "BOGEN" by Mullard, etc. If you don't
know how to recognize the actual manufacturer
by eyeballing the stuff inside the glass, give
this offer a miss - I don't have time to hold
anyone's hand, sorry. Some of these will have
no graphics at all - worn off due to age,
handling, or removed during cleaning.

THESE WILL GO FAST - I offered a mess of RCA
blackplate 6L6s on a gear site and they sold
out in three days flat. If you want 'em, get
'em *now* or miss out.

THE RULES:

No CODs or personal checks. I take Visa,
MasterCard, Discover, and PayPal. Shipping will
be $6 flat rate to any US address, regardless of
order size. Insurance will be charged according
to shipment value. MINIMIUM ORDER IS $50. No
exceptions!

UNLESS YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE US AND CANADA, I WILL
*NOT* ANSWER ANY E-MAIL REGARDING THIS OFFER. IF
YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, *USE THE PHONE*. THIS NG WILL
NOT BE MONITORED FOR REPLIES. POSITIVELY NO SALES
TO ASSHOLES! (You know who you are.)

Personally, I see some major irony in the fact that he's always touted the so-called "silver special" Chinese tube as superior. Perhaps they are, but if so, why did he consistently poo-poo the advantages of the good ol' U.S. British and German tubes? ...the SAME tubes that he's now selling for MORE MONEY than his new tubes that are supposed to be so great (sometimes referred to as "polished turds").

Makes ya think, don't it?

Apparently, it doesn't make you think.

And I'd never buy anything from a guy who says "POSITIVELY NO SALES TO ASSHOLES! (You know who you are.)" Don't forget that Willie is the guy that repeatedly posted "Nuke Mecca." He repeatedly called ANYBODY who he perceived as "a liberal" a "commie." Yet he's more than willing to buy from Communist China (and the prior USSR). ...but he won't sell to his perceived political enemies!

What a freakin' joke!

You need to do some more "thinking"...

At least he seems to admit what I've said for a LONG time: Used but not used up U.S., British and German tubes are worth more than the current production "polished turds."

Yep. I believe you might be VERY right. But if you read what you said, you might notice that even in your own words you 'miss' the point. "Worth more" doesn't mean "better". If you bought that Les Paul at auction for over $250,000.. it might be worth more than another one, but sure as *** it doesn't mean it's better.

Dude, this is a market economy, LV has this figured out all the way to the bank... you seem to have your own conclusions that are limited to this NG.

Just my .02,

Lord Valve has always been very helpful and informative to me even if I wasn't spending a dime on his products. He has also helped many on this NG and many on other formats. I have bought tubes from LV and they were tested and matched perfectly, no regrets. Guys like LV are interesting and colorful. His value to the community outweighed his eccentric personality.

Best regards,

Agreed.

While he certainly is "colorfull"... he just as certainly knows tubes.. and tube amps. He is well informed in many other areas as well.

He also knows how to run a business, is quite successfull at it, and I'd call him generous as well.

Additionally, he's a fine musician.

One thing LV does, is speak his mind... and while he, again, certainly knows (IMO) what any particular tube is 'worth', he'll gladly share his opinion/knowledge as to if it is any 'better' than less expensive product.

FWIW, I hear good things about your products. And I'm hoping your association with a certain amp-builder is going well..!!!

Best Regards as well..!!!!
