I tend to believe the photographer though, it's not like there wasn't a
lot of smoke there to begin with and the places he touched up are spots
where a scratch or dust would show up rather obviously since the area
was plain blue sky without any texture in the background.


Then you should take a look at some of his other doctored work. The one
where he clumsily attempt to turn a single flare fired from an F16 into
three missiles is especially egregious. This guy is pretty clearly a
propagandist, just not a particularly talented one.
