Interesting that you don't want a combo, since they both used combos. SRV liked Fender Vibroverb's and Carlos got famous using a Mesa Boogie Mark I.

If you are totally against combos, I would recommend looking for a used Mesa Boogie head, maybe a DC-3 or some other member of the Dual Caliber line. Also, a used F-30 might come into that price range.

Don't expect to get a head and a cab for that price though - not anything of quality anyway.
