Everyone,

I have an opportunity to buy what appears to be a stock 1957 or 1958 5F6-A
Bassman. Everything appears to be original except for a single 470pf grid
resistor!

The only way I could ever afford to buy one of these is to buy it As-Is (I'm
competent enough to check and restore the circuit). The question is, is it
worth $3k - $3500? That's about what I'll have to shell out for it. To my
way of thinking I wouldn't lose money, but I'm not familiar enough with
Tweed Bassmans to know how good of a deal this is, or if I'm missing some
glaring flaw.

To that end, I'd appreciate it if you guys could take a look at this link to
some photos and let me know what you think.

Thanks and Regards,

Justin Lee

This looks like a serious restoration project. You need to consider the end price, if you can't do it on your own. And then, what will you do with it? I hope NOT cart it around!!! It belongs in a collection or museum, not as a working amp.

Myself? If I wasn't a builder I'd consider a Victoria 45410: http://www.victoriaamp.com/ Since I am a builder, I'd probably get a used Fender RI for the cab and build my own amp.
