Hello,
I couldn't help myself tonight and pulled a Crate BX-100 out of a
garbage pile. It's dirty looking but would clean up very nicely.
The amp, unfortunately, does not work. It had a blown 2.5 amp fuse. I
replaced it (once) turned it on and it hummed loudly for maybe 2
seconds and the new fuse popped.
I have opened it up and looked inside. I am much better at
troubleshooting tube amps, but it seems the likely suspects would be 1.
The rectifier 2. The output transistors
Any other thoughts or techs with experience with these amps?
Worst comes to worst, I could use the cabinet and speaker (pretty heavy
duty and in good shape) as as extension bass cabinet, but the amp looks
very clean and I'd like to get it working.
Thanks for your insight.
Paul
