Well, THERE!!
I am now licensed by the State of Maine as a Master Electrician.
An uphill battle to the very end. The testing company that proctors
the exam (Thomson Prometric) was just recently contracted by the State
before my exam and messed up on the time allowed for this
computer-based test (the proctor couldn't change it). They had just
started testing three days earlier and from what I heard, mine wasn't
the only one they screwed up.
I thought it was kind of funny when the State initially denied my
application because I needed an electronics course. I have over 1100
classroom hours of electrical training, and personally don't see why
an ELECTRICIAN would need it (I took it, anyway). I repair electronics
on the side for local music stores, so it seemed rather ironic. I told
the Board this at the hearing I requested when they denied me *again*
stating that I also needed a 45-hour Code course (even though the
earlier letter didn't mention that). I also told them that if they'd
just let me sit for the test, I'd pass it.
Well, I took the Code course and the State *finally* let me take the
test.
I passed it in three hours instead of four!
Cue James Brown:
"I feel good!"

Good for you, Master Dave (seriously!).
