I have a Marshall AVT50 that I just purchased used a few weeks ago.
Purchased new? If so, stop feeding it fuses and take advantage of the warranty.
A
few days ago it blew the main fuse. After replacing it and powering it
up it instantly blew again. Does anyone have any idea what the issue
could be? I was thinking maybe the pre amp tube....
Doubtful.
Also I'm a drummer and don't have all the tech info about ampage and
ohms. I was just wanting to make sure that I wasn't the cause of this.
The head is rated 4 ohms and the cab is 16 ohms. That shouldn't be a
problem right? Thanks, Ed
No. In fact, it should be as bullet-proof as it can be going into 16 ohms (NOTE: this is a solid state amp). Any chance that the speaker cable shorted out?
If it's used, and worth it's to you, take it to a tech. If you have the money, now may be a good time to get a TUBE amp. It sucks that you only got a few weeks use out of it, though.
