Fascinating. I asked for Statesboro Blues and was offered five choices:
Charlie Daniels Band
Chris Smither
Holy Modal Rounders
Blind Willie McTell
Taj Mahal
I picked Chris Smither and it feed me an interesting mix of acoustic
fingerstyle blues/roots music. Picked Taj and it gave me his recording of
I'm Sittin' on Top of the World (more like it!).
BTW, for you Allman Bros fans out there (I'm one), if you can find Taj
Mahal's recording of Statesboro Blues with Ry Cooder on slide, you'll see
that Duane really ripped it off from them. Or they both ripped it off from
the same place.
