Tube stuff, I prefer to leave on. It's easier on the gear
than turning off/on, warm/cold, etc..Also the inrush on
startup adds wear. When I ran tube ham radio's, "usually drakes"
I left them on 24 hours a day. They were more stable that way,
being they stayed warm. With my henry 2K classic RF
amp, I'll turn it on, and leave it on until I'm sure I'm done.
The inrush surge when turning that thing on is quite a jolt.
It runs two 3-500Z's at about 3400 volts on high tap.
About 800 mils with full load, for an average 1400 watts
or so... Even my solid state Icoms, I leave on 24 hours
a day usually. I have a IC 706mk2g that is nearly always on.
With geetar amps, I leave them on. But...I might put it on standby
if I'm leaving the amp for a good while... The tubes still stay warm,
just no B+... I run my TV 24 hours a day...Same for my puter.
It's never off unless I'm working on it.
