Re: Bumping a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or Blues Deluxe from 40 to 60 watts?

Joey

Preamp circuit is pretty much the same, power amp circuit is different.
You'd have to change power and output transformers. AES has the deluxe
opts for $42, deville for $72, deluxe power for $60, deville power for
$100. So you'd be dropping $160 just for the iron. Musician's Friend
has the deluxe for $600, and the 212 deville for $750. Wouldn't it be
better to get a deville and put a single 12" in it? Or convert the
deville to a head (someone has done this with a deluxe, story on the
net somewhere) and use a cabinet? Or buy a silverface bassman?

People who know more than I do (and that's most of them on this group)
will probably tell me to shut up, but I can't see any way converting a
deluxe to a deville is worth the time, effort, and money.

I like my deville, but it is a heavy mutha. It's much larger,
physically, than a deluxe too. But it gives me exactly the sound I want
with both my telecaster and ES125.
