IMO, it's way too expensive to mod your amp this way. Others have
detailed the costs (maybe $300 in parts, a lot of work, and you'll end
up with an amp which will be harder to resell). Besides, the difference
in clean headroom is only about 1.5 dB or so.
Try using a more efficient speaker. Weber California 12 ceramic is
danged loud. It'll set you back about $85 and you'll truly have an
upgrade any subsequent buyer will appreciate.
