Hey, yeah. I'm not sure why the death cap is still there. It's a .022
just like the other bypass caps, which means I could use it as a test
replacement for one of the ceramic .005s, maybe. Or permanent, should
it be good.
My amp tech did the initial work on the amp, including re-wiring for a
3-prong plug and changing those caps to Sprague Atoms. I'm not certain
why he left the death cap on there. He says he's been fixing and
building amps for 30 years or more, so maybe he has a reason ... I'll
check the link you provided to make sure it's not done in an unusual
way before clipping it. (He may have left it there just in case someone
should ever want to revert it [?])
(I'd have had my amp tech do all this other stuff ... but I decided I
could probably learn it myself ... well, that said, with your and
others' help)
