Re: Photoshop CS4 for Mac crashes every time on closing

Need to make sure all the obvious steps are covered. Did Photoshop ever
close without crashing on either system? If so, and if you are running
time machine, then restore your app folder and settings folders and see if
either of these is causing the problem. My next suggestion would be to
turn off OpenGL to see if that stops the crash. Then I'd suggest looking
for the latest version of your video driver. I'd install any outstanding
OS patches, and remove any graphics related extensions that you may have
installed on both computers.

An automation plugin that runs in the background could also cause a crash
on exit - so move all your plugins, temporarily, to another folder. I had
a situation with PowerPoint on Leopard where it was necessary to remove all
the settings and program files, then do a complete re-install. Perhaps a
similar procedure would fix your Photoshop problem.

Failing all of this, let's hope that someone else with the same problem
chimes in.

I don't believe Photoshop ever closed without crashing on either system. I am not yet running Time Machine. I tried turning off Open GL. Crashes just the same, I'm afraid.

I'm a bit confused as to how to get to the video driver on a Mac. It's not as accessable and updatable as it is on a PC. This is one of the areas where the transition from PC is not so smooth.

All patches are installed. I have a few plugins. I'll try moving them to another folder, temporarily. Thanks for the suggestion.

Seeing all the people posting on various forums that this problem exists, I'm pretty amazed no one has posted a solution...if there is one.
