did you watch his pixelperfect demo on the bottle ?
he made the left side with the pen tool, moved the pen about an inch to the
right, I think he hit CTRL J. What I got was some sort of error message saying
you can't get there from here.
Over and Over again. Which is why I took it to PS, and did the exact same steps
and the CTRL J worked, once I got rid of the fill in the points with the pen
tool.

I just watched it.
He didn't move the pen-tool an inch to the right, he moved the reflect-tool there and made a copy.
Then he selected two nodes with the white-arrow and hit CTRL-J (join)
Those are important steps! Watch it again?
