This may sound like an over simplistic question but what happened to the
installation disc?

All my HP (most Canon and Epson too) printers have required you to
install the driver without the printer being on-line. At the end of the
installation, you are asked to switch the printer on so it can be
"discovered".

The point of this is to install essential dynamic link libraries into
Windows itself so that when the plug and prey part of windows discovers
the printer, it has the essential components for a clean install already
in areas of Windows that post discovery, cannot be written to.

So now provided you did this in the right sequence, Photoshop should
pick up the *OPTION* to use this printer. If you already have another
printer or even Primo (the pdf converter or a fax) set as your default
printer, you need to be aware that early Photoshop CS3's print modules
are flawed and may not necessarily send the print data to the right printer.

You can overcome this by actually paying for a licensed version of
Photoshop - it's the cracked ones that can't be updated... which will
let you update from the version with the flawed module or, set the
printer information the way you want it before loading Photoshop.

When photoshop then 'sees' the default printer complete with all it's
settings, it will be the HP and information will be sent to it which
should result in very nice photographs.

Provided you followed the right sequence to install the printer, the
problem is with Photoshop. If my help doesn't work, call Adobe's help
desk... It's nothing to do with HP.
