...my Canon i990 prints my photos (jpgs, made by a Nikon digital camera) with far too much green and other wrong colors, when I tell my printer to print a photo on photo paper....
When, however, I do not tell my printer that it is a photo and use normal paper, the colors printed are ok.
When I use a laser printer colors are ok as well.
One common way for this to happen is that you are using paper or inks from another manufacturer. If this is the case, try printing with Canon paper and I think your problem will be solved. Or check the manufacturer's web site and see if they provide paper profiles for the Canon.
Another very common problem is that one of your ink cartridges is empty, though the fact that it prints without a green cast on normal paper makes this less likely - I'd still recommend you run a nozzle check to be sure.
Hi Mike, thanks for your help. Meanwhile i solved the problem. Cannon i990 uses for "normal printing" black, cyan, magenta and yellow. For "photo printing" it uses additionally photo-magenta, photo-cyan and red. Although my red cartridge wasn't empty, it was dried out and didn't supply any ink anymore. Therefore, normal printing was ok, but photo printing not. Again, thanks for your help!

If neither of the above addresses the problem, try this procedure for adjusting your colors manually:

Another way to address the problem is to print a standard test image, and have a custom profile created by an online service. These are becoming very affordable - 30 or 40 euros. Cathy's profiles is one that has gotten good reviews - there are others if you look around a bit.
