The problem is of course that the inks cost of much as the printer. In
the Uk Jet Tec inks are highly regarded and are in fact the recommended
by the magazine Digital Photo Art, the best digital photography mag
available in the UK. CIS systems are now available for a very good
price. With an Epson you need to keep up your maintenance. Google for
Arthur Entclich who is the only real expert out there, also look at
Steve's Digicam for a simple mod that will help you. It shows how to
discharge the waste ink into a bottle rather than your ink pad.
