A Miami man who was caught by police eating the face of a homeless man
in Florida was eventually shot dead by police after he refused to stop
his cannibal like behavior.

Why Did Rudy Eugene turn into a live flesh-eating zombie and attack
Ronald Poppo?

Police believe it was an abuse of drugs and a witness who saw the
gruesome incident says Rudy Eugene (Pictured above, left) was naked
and on top of a Ronald Poppo, (Pictured above, right) a 65-year old
homeless man from South Florida, eating the man's face like an animal
when he came upon them and screamed for Eugene to stop.

The witness was unable to stop the possessed like behavior and rounded
up an officer who raced to the scene to intervene with a firearm.

"When the officer approached him, told him to stop, pointed a gun at
him, he turned around and growled like a wild animal and kept eating
at the man's face," a police union leader told Miami's WPLG-TV.

The cop shot the man dead, but it took more than one shot and he
caused horrific damage to Poppo's face.

Some dubbed the attack as zombie like, citing many of the popular
films and TV series that show fictional undead zombies wandering the
earth feeding on live humans.

What cause him to snap?

In this real life case, Eugene was very much alive and police believe
he was on drugs, some have claimed the drug "bath salts" is to blame
while another thought it my be a bad LSD trip, when he went on the
attack on a Sunday afternoon.

Another report claimed the attack might be the cause of a "cocaine
psychosis" in which drugs raise a person's body temperature and cause
a user to take off his clothes to cool off.

LSD and cocaine are obviously banned substances and bath salts are
illegal in many states, including Florida, which banned them in 2011.

So much blood...

Even police were shocked at the crime scene.

Sgt. Javier Ortiz, vice president of the Miami Fraternal Order of
Police, said it was one of the bloodiest "and goriest scenes I've ever
been to."

"It was not only grotesque, it was just very sad, the amount of blood.
It was very sad to see what happened to this gentleman that had his
face eaten," Ortiz said.

Poppo remains in critical condition.

JOPPATOWNE, Md. — Authorities say in court documents that a Maryland
man has admitted to eating another man's heart and part of his brain.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old college student
Alexander Kinyua has been charged with first-degree murder.

They say Kinyua was arrested Wednesday, days after his roommate went
missing. Police say they found body parts while searching the townhome
in Joppatowne just outside of Baltimore. Police also found body parts
in a nearby trash container.

Kinyua is charged with first-degree murder and was ordered held on no
bail.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Monica Worrell says police believe the body
parts are those of the missing man.

Last week, police in Miami shot and killed a man eating the face off
another man, who survived.

This very odd “Crazies/zombie-like” behavior seems to be spreading.
The most recent incident happened in Hackensack, NJ, where 43-year-old
Wayne Carter ended up stabbing himself all over his body and threw his
own intestines at the police officers trying to subdue him. Here’s how
it all went down:

A call was made to local police officers around 10 p.m. this past
Sunday, May 27th, by someone claiming that Wayne Carter was holding a
knife and threatening to hurt himself. Police officers responded to
the distress call and arrived at his Clay Street home and entered his
home. They had to actually kick in the door to his bedroom because
Wayne blocked it off with various furniture, according to Lt. John
Heinemann.

The officers entered his room and found Wayne sitting in the corner of
his room with the knife in his hand. As they approached, he rose to
his feet and began screaming wildly at the police and proceeded to
stab himself all over his body. He continued screaming at the officers
and even though he stabbed himself over and over again, he didn’t seem
to be feeling any pain from the self-inflicted knife wounds. Lt.
Heinemann said that one officer noticed that his intestines were
protruding out of his skin from one of the knife wounds, and Wayne
actually ripped off some of his own skin and intestines and threw it
at the officers when they tried to get close to him!

On top of that, they ended up spraying him with TWO cans of pepper
spray, but it had no effect on Wayne whatsoever! He maintained his
grip on the 12-inch knife and the officers were left with no choice
but to retreat. They called in the Bergen County SWAT Team who rushed
into the home and managed to subdue Wayne in order to rush him to the
Hackensack University Medical Center. An unnamed police official
stated, “The scene was a bloody mess. The SWAT team members had to be
decontaminated due to the amount of blood.”

Wayne has undergone emergency surgery, but so far remains in critical
condition. Apparently he has a history of “disorderly conduct” and
“resisting arrest” and has allegedly been taken to the hospital for
“psychiatric reasons” before. All in all, this sounds like something a
little beyond your normal “psychiatric problems.”
