Thanks Chuck.  I bill myself as a reasonable man and now sit
corrected.  Having seen filters in various stages of decomposition
over the years I didn’t see them as a problem and considered “It’s bad
for the environment!” as New-Age dogma that wasn’t founded on reason;
but that article was an eye opener…

When I presented stance I wrote (above) to Zen he retorted that it
took ten years for the filters to degrade in an exclamatory tone that
didn’t impress me, but out of respect for his wishes I started putting
my butts in my pocket or his ash tray and as I remember only lost one
out the window to the wind whipping it out of my fingers.  In implying
I made a habit of throwing my butts out of his car window Zen is a
lying piece of shit.

PS: I picked up at least a carton’s worth of filters at the gathering…
