The Alabama Rainbow family consensed Sunday to not attend the
nationals this year. We would love to go but we are all broke as hell.
I'll be there in spirit though and we'll gather here on the 4th and
observe silence till noon then circle up in spirit with the family.

Yeah...veggie's suck ass

Sorry for the negative comment.. I was feeling a little down.

The fact is... when I first started going to rainbow gatherings it
seemed like every kitchen in the gathering cooked nothing but veggie
stuff. In fact, my first gathering, Talladega 1993, I showed up with a
cooler full of beer, hot dogs, and hamburger meat. Once I realized all
the food was provided I decided to donate all that meat to a
kitchen... I found it hard to give away. I finally found a kitchen
that would take it.

On another note... when we first started the Sweet Om kitchen at NM
1995 we had about 30 people there from Alabama and most were
vegetarian... so meal planning was simple...everything we made was
pure veggie. In the later years it seems like no one is vegetarian...
so we started cooking meals with meat.... and it kinda stuck. Now the
Sweet Om kitchen cooks with meat daily at the gathering... kinda odd
how it all worked out. I do know that if you are cooking with meat,
the vegetarians in the group, always want what we have before we add
the meat... makes it hard to please everybody....
