Talking with the FS on the land is just the kind of cooperation that
works best imo and the fact that no permit issue has been brought up
as of yet is ideal.  May it continue…

I agree that cooperation between the local foresters and gatherers is
paramount. It allows communication to happen about the issues that are
of mutual interest and concern, and hopefully can lead to a flexible
plan that addresses the ongoing operational needs of gathering on the
chosen site.

The fellows from D.C. are wisely staying out of it at this juncture. I
have no doubt they will deploy their troops soon, and when they do the
permit issue and law enforcement harassment will begin. The local
foresters will then have little say in what happen on their own forest,
as the guys from D.C. will set up an Incident Command system with Law
Enforcement in charge. Let's hope the Incident Commander and whoever is
calling the shots in D.C. are reasonable people. It does make a
difference to how things go on the ground.

The way I see it is it really comes down to who approaches whom and as
long as they are the ones to initiate contact and they know going in
that no one there has the authority to sign a permit (much less apply
for an application) then it is within the scope of their Reg to go
with an alternative method to avoid an unnecessary abridgement of
rights not to mention the disrespect they show for their fellow
citizens in the process.

As public servants it is their sworn duty to uphold constitutionally
guaranteed rights, but they have shown a proclivity towards wheedling,
pleading “necessity,” and have otherwise shown bad faith in their
efforts to ilicitly convert rights into privileges under license/
permit … Conspiracy Against Rights is a felony, but the rule of law
doesn’t apply to the oligarchy. No sir, those people are not my
“fellow citizens.”

 My prayer is that all will go well and
everyone enjoys a peaceful gathering; yes even those employees hired
to oversee these wonderful events/happenings.

Hope for the best, and practice non-opposition. IMO the main reason
the Permit scam was invented was to shut down the Silence on the 4th
of July, because it embarrasses the war machine and all the sophistry
and high sounding bombast it can generate falls flat trying argue with
it.
