A tax and mandatory insurance not paid to the gov are not the same
imo, however I would fully support a single payer system. I wondered
why we didn?t have that as far back as junior high school.

We taxpayers pay the tax and everyone has coverage. Those who can't
afford the premiums get subsidized with the tax revenue. It's not
ideal, but it's a start. Can only go up from here.
