hey logan
yep, the weather here is a factor... not the whole story, but
certainly a part.
new mexico is appealing in many ways. where in the state are you? the
culture of nm is fascinating as well but i wonder how polarized it is
by race and class?...
i don't really know anybody in new mexico... part of what draws me to
the CA bay area, is that i've already spent some time there, living
and working, i liked it, already have some friends & relations rooting
for me to make the transition, and whatever your opinion may be of the
culture, i found it very diverse and lively, & quickly found warm,
friendly rainbowesque community there when i lived there for a summer.
the waiting list thing for housing doesn't apply in my case. luckily
i'm all set.
i'm poor here, i'd be poor there too, just not quite as poor as i am
here, not quite as isolated, and my rolling section 8 housing grant
means affording a nice enough place would not be an issue.
too, my kids are already grown ups (one of them lives in california &
just got married!) so the playground and teacher student ratio thing
is great but irrelevant to my needs.
thanks for the reality check, tho.
.
