If pain isn’t proof enough of one’s existence then I’m at a loss as to

Why is it that so often in these types of discussions so many people
immediately look to pain to define their existence? Why not love,
pleasure, joy? That's the better teacher and if there's any purpose,
anything we're here to learn, that's what we're here to learn.
I’m glad you pointed that out. Pain is an opposing factor and you
couldn't have known those things without the knowing the other. If
one is not willing to love their neighbor odds are it won’t matter to
them if they are in pain.
Chuck
I've heard this before and I don't buy it for a second. No one needs
to have their lip bloodied to know that a kiss feels good. No one
needs their body beaten to know or understand the pleasure of two
bodies touching each other. No one needs to be hated or to hate to
know that being loved or loving another is good. There's no
justification, no reason, no need for all this pain and suffering in
this world. Love, pleasure, joy are intrinsic values and need no
opposite to be felt and experienced.
You so touchy Thistle, lighten up.
Chuck
I'm a passionate man, I don't take anything lightly and I don't
understand those who can and do.
Well this comes as no surprise. I would take the time to educate you,
but you’ve made it clear in the past you prefer ignorance and become
argumentative if not allowed it so I’ll leave you with your bliss..
Maybe you could argue with twofeathers… I liked his post.
Chuck
There was no argumentation. I was simply stating my views on the
subject. They happen to be different than yours. You're the one who
decided to make it personal instead of addressing the topic. And
you're the one who decided to become insulting, as is your tendency in
most discussions when someone disagrees with you.
Oh sure that’s how it is. I know I’ve tried and have found the
opposite to be true, but I would imagine that’s how it would appear to
you in your world of delusions.
Chuck
More insults Chuck? I "prefer ignorance" and live in a "world of
delusions." Is this the education you think I need? What point exactly
are you attempting to make with these insults? How does this
illuminate your views on the nature of good and evil? It appears to me
that you're just looking for a flame war.
I’m not insulting you, but it would only stand to reason that you
would find my language curt because it fits and you don’t like it.
Any attempt on my part to illuminate you has proven to be a lesson in
futility for me because you (to me) choose to be ignorant. My guess
is you’ll twist this into something other than what it is (an effort
to enlighten) and make me out to be smug or something similar. You
wrote: “Love, pleasure, joy are intrinsic values and need no opposite
to be felt and experienced.” You know this how? Unless you were born
laughing and never once cried for want these things wouldn’t have had
a point of reference which is the opposing factor. But you made it
clear from the beginning of your post there was no point in
disagreeing with you “I've heard this before and I don't buy it for a
second.” Further I suggest you “lighten up” (unwind, relax) and I get
“I'm a passionate man, I don't take anything lightly and I don't
understand those who can and do.” Who said anything about you not
being passionate? And what does “I don’t take anything lightly” have
to do with “lighten up”? Then there’s “I don't understand those who
can and do.” which gives me the impression that no matter what I might
write back (intelligent dialog) you can’t/won’t or will refuse to
understand = ignorance.
