I would be willing to bet the majority of Iraqi people are good,
honest, god fearing folks just the majority of us... and they, I am
sure, want nothing more than peace and to be left alone.
I am of the opinion that wanting Peace and to be left alone is the
norm, and that government, even in its best form, is but a necessary
evil. Cf: http://odur.let.rug.nl/~usa/D/1776-1800/paine/CM/sensexx.htm
Seems that
having oil is a curse more than a blessing. There are plenty of
countries out there with horrible dictators where the people are being
wiped out by the thousands that we, as a country, won't do anything to
about.... because they have no natural resources we can take by force.
Sometimes I feel ashamed to be an amerikan even though I personally
have nothing to do with our governments actions. (except maybe for
being a fuel consumer)

"being a fuel consumer" does NOT ipso facto mean you are licensing
murder. I think the whole world is waking up to the fact that the US
Gummint represents only a few people, and not the general populace.
Too, I believe it is right to pray for and support the troops, and
that it is absolutely not necessary to support the wars to do it.
Okay, so the wars are not the "lawful orders" the troops are sworn to
obey, so what? In general when the shit is hitting the fan the troops
are too busy surviving for political ruminations, and they have the
immediate safety of their comrades in arms to think about first. No,
it's the Brass Hats in the Pentagon and the CIC upon whose shoulders
the blame for illicit campaigns must repose. As to specific instances,
like the guards at Abu Ghraib that are now in prison, the officers
that gave them those orders are equally guilty and should share their
cells, IMHO.
