The City of St. Paul is dropping charges against 29 defendants
scheduled to go to trial in December.
From the Link:
City Attorney John Choi said the charges stemmed from 15 gross
misdemeanor riot cases and 14 misdemeanors involving unlawful
assembly.
"misdemeanor riot" Huh? WTF is a misdemeanor riot? LOL!
There was insufficient evidence to prove the charges beyond a
reasonable doubt at trial, Choi said.
["Yeah that looks good on paper, lets say that."]
But, he stressed, "In no way does a dismissal in a criminal case
mean that there was not probable cause for the underlying arrest, or
that the police acted inappropriately in any way."
It's official. The cops didn't try to intimidate anyone or act in
collusion, and -We the People- have the Gummint's word on it! Move
along...
Disgusting, Sanity
Hello, dear ones!
As many of you already know, my partner (Jason Scarecrow) and I were
recently involved in a really traumatic incident while protesting at
the
RNC. While waiting for a legal protest to begin, we were both chased
down
by officers on horseback and arrested. Jason was tasered over twenty
times
(at least, that¹s my guess based on watching the video) and continues
to
struggle with physical pain in his legs where the worst of the
tasering
occurred.
If this sounds at all unfamiliar to you, you can check out the video
here:http://www.glassbeadcollective.org/rnc/tasering_s2.mov
Post your video on utube or in another way where I don't have to
download it onto my harddrive please. With all due respect, I don't
know you and do not download stuff onto my harddrive from strangers.
Having perfideous relatives has made me gun shy of blind 'family'
trust.
For us, fighting this incredible act of injustice and cruelty in court
is as
important as it was to go to the RNC to raise our voices ‹ perhaps
more so,
in fact. At this point, we¹re finding ourselves facing a whole lot of
medical, legal, missed work, and travel costs that we can¹t really
afford to
take on. Neither one of us has medical insurance, so all of the
medical and
emotional care that we¹re receiving comes out of pocket. More
urgently,
Jason needs a plane ticket to fly to Minnesota on December 15th for
his
pre-trial appearance in court.
Normally we wouldn¹t have to take on this expense because generally a
person
in this position would simply be represented by counsel at the hearing
and
would not travel thousands of miles just to be in court for half an
hour.
This time, however, the judge won¹t allow it. Our lawyer, who has
worked in
St. Paul for decades, says that he has not seen someone¹s request that
cousel represent them at a pre-trial hearing denied by a judge even
once in
his entire career. Apparently, they¹re trying to play hard ball with
us and
not cutting us any breaks. But, because we hadn¹t expected that Jason
would
have to go to this thing, we¹re now stuck trying to buy a ticket two
weeks
before the date during the middle of the Holiday Season, and that¹s
expensive.
So, I know you¹ve given to EAT, and to Witchlets, and to the Salvation
Army
Bell Dudes. But if there¹s any chance you could help us with this
expense ‹
and the other mounting travel, medical, and legal expenses before us ‹
we
would greatly appreciate it. Anything at all is helpful, big or small,
so
if you have any funds to spare please mail them to: Jason Johnson,
5326
Poinsett Ave., El Cerrito CA 94530.
And, if you¹re interested in keeping abreast of what¹s going on with
our
post-RNC battles and how you can help, please log on to our Helping
Hands
site. To start the registration process, click on the link below, and
enter
your email address under ³Interested in becoming a member of this
community?² There¹s not much there just yet, but as more things
happen,
we¹ll put them up. We¹re hoping to organize a fundraiser for our legal
expenses and to donate to the legal fund for those facing felonies
from the
RNC. Anyway, here¹s the link:http://www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/609256/
Much love,
Riyana and Jason
