I saw a UFO at the last Oregon gathering.  A light just hanging
silently in the sky, wounderously.  It turned out to be a hot air
balloon made of ricepaper and powered by a birthday candle, but for a
while it was a real Unidentified Flying Object.

Peace, Sanity

PS: If space aliens are so smart, why would they talk only to the
Earth's governments?

i can't picture how a candle would work with the wind but i've made
hot air balloons using giant hefty bags and a highway flare with twine
holding it all together.  once lit it floated right off and went very
high...once in the air it was an orange glob of light that seemed to
hover and jerk one way then the other when wind gusts hit it...pretty
cool stuff!  but one needs to be very careful with the potentially
dangerous but obvious fire hazard such a balloon poses...but they are
cheap and easy and fun!  you can also fly them like a kite with string
attached but they don't get very high from the drag of the
string...but it's a safer way of going about it if you're in a fire-
prone area and it's a lot easier to pick up when done.

The air was absolutely still calm so the balloon floated in place. I
didn't approve of the fire hazard and it concerned me when I learned
what it was I was looking at. When the candle had burned to the balsa
cross piece the whole thing went up in flames, but fortunately every
spark looked to have died out long before reaching the Earth.

and with a a pair of scissors, some glue and clear plastic one can
make some pretty cool designs in the bag that shine thru when lit from
inside...

next chapter: potato guns...

fun stuff in the summertime...

Ever see what a potato gun can do to a car door? NOT my idea of "fun
stuff."

Peace please, Sanity
