The con's-piracy is pandemic.
...The closest we get to redistribution of income are the entitlement
programs such as Social Security, Medicare and veterans benefits. But that
is not where the problem is. Unequal income distribution ends up a more
serious problem than the safety nets.
The word "entitlement" spells out the problem. Originally a "titled" person
had a right to the income from some asset. The noble was entitled to it.
Similarly, today a person can have a right or title to some income because
of who they are rather than what they have produced. That is what a pension,
trust fund or any other wealth really is - the right to an income stream.
As we concentrate ever-more wealth in the hands of an ever-smaller group, we
also allocate to that group an ever larger share of our children and
grandchildren's output. We are establishing a new, hereditary nobility.
The question is, how much of our children's income do we have a right to
allocate?
None. "Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 4. No one shall
be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be
prohibited in all their forms."
We commit future income to specific groups when we borrow and
spend for any war
BINGO! You hit the nail on the head! In my lifetime "we" have not
borrowed to spend on any "war." The US Gummint, representing the
interests of the military industrial complex and other corporate and
private interests (like getting a rubber plantation in Vietnam for
LadyByrd Johnson) INSTEAD of the public borrowed those funds. This is
known as 'public robbery' and is an ancient practice.
"I will not sit unconcerned while my liberty is invaded, nor look in
silence upon public robbery. I will exert my endeavors, at whatever
hazard, to repel the aggressor, and drag the thief to justice, whoever
may protect him in his villainies, and whoever may partake of his
plunder." - William Pitt 1778
Today's wars are all founded upon lying pretexts and unconstitutional
as hell. The US was never threatened by communism from N. Korea or
Vietnam, Granada was a dodge to take attention away from the Beruit
bombing, Gulf War 1 was about blowing up sand with 2 million dollar
cruise missles to empty the warehouses for 3+ million dollar
replacements, 9-11 was a huge lie there is no way three WTC buildings
could be destroyed by two planes, there were no WMD, "collateral
damage" is a euphemism for murder for profit, etc. etc. All this
shows solid grounds, IMHO, for repudiation of the National Debt.
Think on that!
Dispite all that I'm willing to think of Dubya as not guilty by reason
of mental defect. I really think he's being manipulated. "We'll all
be your friends if you eat the paste George." I don't care how much
his mommy spent on his diploma from Yale...
or social programs or when we shift enormous wealth to
Wall Streeters and to Silicon Valley and away from farmers and steelworkers.
The offspring of the rich will have a legal right to a substantial portion
of the output of our descendants...
"EAT THE RICH" - 70s bumpersnicker
Nice vent, thanks for the impetus. :^)
