I recently wrote to my friend Wing, whom many of you know, and who is
among the editors of the ALL WAYS FREE, to see how things were
going. This is his reply.
Though I have not read his book, I intend to order at least one
copy.

Good news! My 16-month checkup came and went without any news to
report -- which is why you're only hearing from me several months
later. I'm writing now with a different kind of cancer update. The
novel I began writing in the hospital at the lowest point of my cancer
ordeal is now at the printer, and will be available in time for
Christmas!
Free Ralph! An Evolutionary Fable is the whimsical story of a young
chimpanzee who performs on the trapeze in a Florida circus, and a
janitor from Indiana who gets lost in the African jungle and adopted
by the chimp's family. In my story the chimps are smarter than the
people, so they begin to educate the man about ecological reality
(along with the reader) -- and then recruit him to go to Florida and
bring their lost baby home. Naturally it gets even more whimsical from
there.
You can read more about the story on my web site, www.WindEaglePress.com,
plus some quotes from my advance readers. But the amazing thing is
that the book virtually dictated itself, scene after scene, just like
I was channeling the chimpanzees! I consider it one of the miraculous
gifts of my cancer experience, along with a deeper appreciation of my
life and the people who love me.
I believe one reason I got cancer, and got it at the base of my
tongue, was frustration with certain aspects of my life involving
communication. I took immediate steps to resolve the personal
communication issues. I am convinced that Free Ralph! was a response
to an artistic blockage I wasn't even aware of, and writing it was
essential to my healing.
I've taken the rash step of editing, designing and publishing the book
myself, under the name Wind Eagle Press, with some help from two do-it-
yourself publishing books. My official publication date is not until
March 1, to allow the book reviewers time to do their part. But with
your help, I'm hoping to begin recovering my investment right away.
(I'm already writing the sequel!)
If you know people who enjoy fiction or humor, are animal or nature
lovers, or keep up with the evolving New Age, they can be the first to
experience what's sure to be Oprah's next trendy book! However, I must
warn you that the book does make fun of fundamentalist Christianity
(gently), and also contains a few choice cuss words (only in dialogue,
where absolutely in character). You'll need to use discretion when
choosing the lucky recipients of Free Ralph! on your Christmas list.
My retail price for one book is $14.99, plus $3.00 shipping and 7%
sales tax if you live in Georgia. If you want multiple books, just add
another dollar for shipping each book. You can send me a check or use
PayPal on the web site above.
If you like the book, I'd love to add your quote to the ones you'll
see on the site. Once Free Ralph! is officially in print next March, I
will write you again to let you know other ways you can help.
Healthwise, I'm back to full strength, but still have to be careful to
get plenty of sleep. My hair is coming back a little thicker and
curlier than it was and has now reached my shoulders. My mouth is
sometimes dry due to the radiation, but my thyroid seems to have
survived intact. Thank you all for your love and prayers, cards and
emails! I couldn't have done it without you.
I trust that your own health is good, your loved ones are well, Mother
Earth is providing you much to be grateful for, and Santa has you on
the right list!
peace, love and light, Wing
