Some of you out there in AGR-land may have been at the 98 Arizona
Gathering and went to the Sun Dance at Big Mt. afterwords. Well, it is
GONE now, destroyed by the Hopi Tribal Police, God Bless their Mormons
souls. Here's the latest on Big Mt....

Update on the Big Mountain, Black Mesa Annual Food & Supply Run from
Clandyken: 11/07
"Dear Friends, Less than a week before we part for the Big Mountain
region of the Navajo Reservation in support of the people living under
forced relocation. We are still a bit short on our fundraising goals
and I've heard they are expecting a cold, harsh winter this year. That
means firewood will be very important. Perhaps you are somone who can
afford to help us buy more wood, only $180 for a cord of spilt oak
delivered to the reservation. You could keep Grandmother warm through
the toughest part of winter for the price of a new cell phone. If you
can't make it to one of these shows but would still >like to
contribute you can send your support to: Clan Dyken Big Moutain
Supply Run 4087 Ponderosa Way Angels Camp, CA 95222.
We have two shows this weekend before we head out on Sunday November
18th. They will be two very different experiences.....
This year in addition to the food and supply deliveries we will also
be making the rounds with a gieger counter to check on radiation
levels in areas around the urainum mines. This has been a long ignored
health problem for many of the people in the region. We've been
interested in knowing what the levels are and what possible risks the
people who live there might be facing, as well as those who visit.
We'll let you know what we need. Native people have a long history of
bearing the burden of nuclear power. From the mining, to weapons
testing and of course disposal of waste, the nuclear cycle takes place
on Native soil and continues the policy of environmental racism by
exposing this population to the hazards of this deadly power source.
Thanks again for all your support, we're proud to represent you in
this effort.
Peace,
Mark Dyken
