Depositions are, unequivocally, 'under oath before the courts.'

I don't get you foote. What part of "lying under oath is perjury" are
you having a problem understanding?

If Bill Clinton had lied under oath that he'd always kept his dog
leashed, or never urinated in the bushes it would still be felony
perjury. The issue isn't sex. The issue is the verity of tesimony
given under oath.

Sanity Clause RE [ironically enough]

No, sex is, to a certain extent, a part of the issue. The questions never
should have been asked, and the answers (and the questions) were found to
irrelevant to the case. They were asked as part of partisan witch hunt to
find something, anything, to hold against Clinton. It had nothing to do
with any real legal issues. Starr was barely able to give it the
appearance of legitimacy. The Senate dismissed the charges because of
that. Under numerous state laws of perjury, that irrelevance of the
questions, and the apparent lack of intent to change the outcome of the
legal proceedings on the part of Clinton are enough to dismiss the
possible lack of 100% honesty on Clinton's part.

Absolutely correct. In addition had they proceded it was unlikely they
could have gotten a conviction on perjury. Clinton's lawyers asked for
a definition of "sexual relations" and with in that definition clinton
was able to claim he did not have sexual relations with that women.
Legalistically correct though kinda weaslely. But the real reason the
gop witch hunt ended had nothing to do with the money flowing and not
so much with the ligitimacy of the charges. Too many men and women had
made the same argument to their own significant others, "Oh course I
didn't have sex with him/her!" (cause she only gave me a blowjob, we
never fucked i.e. never had sex) And too many men and women had
committed adultery and lied about it, those who weren't caught would
lie about it today. Public opinion counts sometimes. The idea that
all lies are equal and should be treated the same is complete
nonsense. Compare, "no that dress doesn't make you look fat" with
"Saddam is seeking yellow cake uranium from africa and is on his way
to making an atomic bomb."
