Yes, John, as you observed, there are people in the Rainbow Family who are
not part of A Camp who summon the LEO's against A Camp. That's not
unreasonable when A Campers steal everything from vehicles to musician's
instruments to beating people bloody. That's consistent with the
long-standing consensus that a Rainbow Gathering shall not be used as a
sanctuary for criminals.
somebody mentioned the havamal earlier tonight, which i found out was
part of what's called the elder or aeldur edda. its norse, it's based
on ancient oral traditions, written down so long ago it's not funny.
the havamal purports to be the wisdom writings of odin himself, and
it begins with a series of cautionary aphorisms, aimed at those who
wander. it starts right out with the perils of drink.
let's face it, alcohol is a problem inside the gut and the brain and
the liver of the drinker. it is a problem in his or her family. it is
a problem all through and deep within the circle, and there at the
camps on the edges of out.
the cops are all over the rainbow scene anymore like swarms of flies
on acres of unburied dog poo. theft and drunken violence are one
perfect excuse for them to earn their overtime pay, and i'm not sure
myself whether it is always wrong to call them in. if ahimsa and
shanti sena aren't commonly understood and widely discussed at
gatherings anymore, ... whaddayaganna do?
but the drunks are family too... see keggers dave letter thread if you
want to share some tears with his family and his mourners, and then
tell me we aint family. a family with a drinking problem. sigh.
