Mullein ( several large leaves )
Howdy BeeJay, I'm glad you are interested in medicinal plants.
I agree with PM that what you propose here sounds like commerce
and others have in the past been scolded for bringing such activities
to this forum. Best you should gift such gifts to folks in person who
are
ready for such gifts, but that is merely my opinion and will probably
not
sway you from your path. ...So it goes...
I agree that too many folks smoke too much tobacco and it is not good
for their lungs. Is smoking other substances really going to patch
the
lungs of such folks? Is smoking itself a soigne thing? I've had
this
discussion with several kind people and had various responses. On
the one hand the tobacco is diluted; on the other hand other free
radicals
and hot particles and undefined molecules are introduced into a
delicate
organ which functions much better breathing in air without any
smoke.
"The mouth is much better employed than with a cylinder of rank
weed."
(--JJoyce) ...And so on...
Particularly I have heard that Rabbit Tobacco is an antagonist for
nicotine. Anyone have any experience with this plant? Foote?
Mullein is a plant for which I have affection. It has taken residence
in my garden. Down here in the hot humid south it behaves as an
annual. I have about a dozen stalks and by fall, millions of seed...
It helps me to clear my lungs up, but not by smoking it. I like to
crush up the leaves and inhale the fresh aroma of the leaf. Perhaps
some of the tiny hairs get up in my nasal passages. A couple of
minutes later and all sorts of mucous starts flowing and is easy to
expel especially when I start sneezing multiple times from the
irritation of the mullein hairs. Just thinking about it makes my
nose itch. When I sneeze, and I sneeze loudly, that breaks up
mucous deeper in the lungs and makes it easier to expel too.
Then I can breathe again. Yea! Mullein makes good tea too.
I'm glad to hear that Spirit managed to quit his cigarete habit.
Regards, Aesc Hu
The man who quits the cigarette habit must see his own folly,
and convince his own mind of the existence of the vice ere
it can be eradicated. The trouble is in his brain. There is no
salvation for him outside himself. There is no doubt but that
the cigarettist is often a man of many good impulses, and
over and over in his heart there sweep resolves to cease all
subterfuge and be true, but these maudlin resolves are not
to be trusted any more than you hearken to the promises of
a "dope fiend." The choice between cigarettes and daily
doses of cocaine, morphine or bromide is very slight --
all and each lead downward to the grave. --Elbert Hubbard
