Dearest family, My mother has had a dry, somewhat productive cough
since november.
She is also in remission currently and for the third time in eleven
years of nonhodgkins lymphoma. This cough goes on day and night so
that she probably spends a third of her minutes on this hard scrabble
planet contorted in coughs. She doctors with kaiser permanente
(hmo). They've xrayed and scanned and biopsied and a myriad of blood
tests have been done and redone and all results are negative. And all
the usual/current western paliatives fail, same as the remedial
efforts with steroids which make no difference.
The poor woman.
Today she told me that she made an appt for a second oppinion at
another Kaiser hospital.
But she also told me that she's lost forty pounds, she's starting to
have little bits of memory loss and she just considers her quality of
life as really poor.
Now here's the deal. Although she's just adamantly negative about
herbs/herbal medicine, she has said she would try one herb like in a
tea for the cough. So what shall I give her? She will only try one
herb at a time because she has so many allergies. Sage is out. It all
but killed her like 15 years ago. Black cohosh keeps popping unbidden
into my mind. But...?
So what do you all think? Goddess be with you. (Thea IS her name!
Means goddess.)
Love, Miranda the Daughter
PS She'd never do pot. Would it work? In cookies?
Things I'd try one at a time, in moderation:
slippery elm
lemon
anise oil ( a drop or two in with tea)
teaspoon of burbon whiskey in with regular tea
hoarhound
eucaliptus oil in a vaporizer
Hope I helped.
