Did you see the Buddha statues intact?
I've never even seen them in photos, except for photos taken after they had begun to be demolished.
One Yeshe Rinpoche had a plan to paint two Buddha statues on a hillside in Northern California, in honor of the Bamiyan Buddhas that were destroyed by the Taliban, but I never heard anything else about that.
