Thanks Holly for your full report. Sorry to have
missed you - so close! I was there the night the
pizza was being made, sitting around the fire at
Luvin' Ovens. Also was known to pass Brew-Ha-Ha on a
number of trips to Info. I'll be going back up again
in just an hour or so.

This morning I was at the Steamboat Springs
Consolidated Resource Office (FS, and other Colorado
agencies). It got good vibes down there and met with
one of the local field rangers I had met earlier. I
was once again asking a few questions now that it is a
business day again. Also was trying to get in touch
with Waste Management regarding recycling and clean-up
but it is a Denver number and was put on hold with the
cell phone. Once again I think things are looking up
after talking with the local FS folks. What needs to
be adressed though for ALL of us is an investigative
report into just what happened, and how it all
happened over the year's time. There are a number of
scenarios that really MUST be avoided from happening
again.

I'm also told that the $750,000 LEO pool would not
likely have been in such strong force if there had
been much more working cooperating and communications
with the local field rangers and district office.
Love responds with Love, and I found the local FS
people pretty nice - even moderators for peace at
times. Politics is one thing, but we can not let it
cloud the real picture. There is MUCH to be said as
we look back on the whole story that is to be told.

For one thing there needs to be a back door -
especially when Main Circle and Info is so far in ,
let alone that Kid Village and Yoga were so VERY far
back. That had just not seemed right this year that
parents with little kids and so many supplies were in
such a distance of dusty uphill trails with no back
door.

Additionally, just like you observed Holly, - it is
amazing how bliss ninny some people can be, and then
get agro when being told soemthing. The fire
situation with the one young bro you witnesssed was
also repeated at least once at upper bus village when
someone came in and left chicken burning on an open
fire with no pit or protection, and had to be dowsed
with buckets. Speaking of the dead trees, I heard
this morning it just took one lightening strike of ONE
TREE in that Hahn's Peak area in 2001 for an entire
ridge line to go up in flames in minutes. Also the
beetle situation and the trees is quite complex, and
can not be politicized. It has many angles and many
factors. Understanding ecology and pathology of the
situation is probably the best place to begin. Even
global warming might be playing a factor, since
subzero winters in the past used to help kill or
reduce the pine beetles (and thats not happening in
recent years).

The other thing too, you mentioned, that I would like
to have seen cited if WE could not have done better,
was the flagrant disregard for parking safety. So
many self centered wingnuts parked in the upper bus
village and all along the outbound side of the main
road to and past main gate. Only a few days before
anyone would have been cited for that. As a result
two vehicles had their mirrors torn off, and one case
of apendacitis EVAC took a lengthy two hours go get
out. School busses, and emergency vehicles could
barely get through if not even able to pass. That was
uncalled for. It was for that reason that A Camp shut
off any vehicles from getting back in - even for
supplies or shuttle, or those camped in upper bus
village. As I result I was turned back, and I still
have stuff up there I need to return to.

Well I must get back on the road up there very soon.
So signing out for now, and look forward to possibly
hearing more communication by cell phone. I'm still
debating which direction to head immediately after
this last trip up and overnight.

Looks like there is a big call for action in NE
California near Mt. Shasta to save Medicine Lake from
Bush development for energy development. Rainbow
Family back at home are putting out an APB to ALL
FAMILY to help respond. I wish I had access to a
printer to print this out and bring it up to the site.
The URL is:

So that's it for now and look forward to more
communications later.

Peace, Love, Light and Ecology,
Dwight
