That's not quite the point. If there is ever a time when you cannot pay
taxes on your homestead, should it be taken away from you completely?

It takes a long time for that to happen. Mine are a little over
one fifteen a month, and I think if I were in such a position
that I couldn't pay that, I'd probably have to sell just to get
out from under the mortgage, at which time the taxes would no
longer be my problem.

imagine leaving your fully paid for house/land to someone after you
pass many decades from now, that 'burden' of a completely paid off
property would be theirs then.

I anticipate inheriting such a place. Considering the value of
the place, I'll be happy to pay the taxes on it.

a property is paid for over and over again, if possible, or taken back
if not. not many people/families outlast their country.

Should you be compensated?

If it gets to the point where you're going to be foreclosed upon
for the taxes, it would be best to sell and settle your debts.

Or simply "you didn't pay your taxes, now
lose your homestead and become homeless and destitute. Have a nice
day?"

Those are not the only options.

in time the tax becomes the only debt, even if a property has been paid
for long ago, in time that same tax will be cause to reclaim that
property and pass it on to another good serf.

"Will be"? Not as long as I pay them. It's a cost of access to
public services, without which the property is not worth as much.
