if your cold at night ....

1)you can heat up a rock at ther ,don't use river rocks as they will explode
in the fire, and don't heat it to glowing red

put the rock at the bottom of your
sleeping bag... in colonial days in the
cities they facnified it with "bed warmers"
if you lived in the country in a log cabin
you had your rock on the fireplace mantel

the best rock to use is jade as it holds in
heat...thats what the indians used
in big sur, ca

WELL, the only difference betweeen Colonial times and now is that most
modern sleeping bags are made out of artificial materials that are
prone to MELT when in contact with a heat source.

As one that has lived at 9,800 ft in Colorado all year long there are
other ways to keep warm that will not have you waking up with your
sleeping bag melted to your feet.

One of the falsehoods of cold weather survival is bundling up in
layers.... NO !!! this will cause you to sweat and the sweat will cause
you to freeze.

Work up a good sweat prior to going into your tent.... once inside
strip off all your clothing and dry off with a towel.... put on a thin
layer and get into your sleeping bag.... make sure your head is covered
(heat will escape if it is not).

2) people on there way to the gathering
can stop at a goodwill "depot" or
"collection" store before they
shipped the goods to the smaller stores

and buy blankets by the pound... put them
in the dryer for 15 min to kill any lice
and pass them out... electric blankets are
popular now as throwaways...

Goodwill puts such items through the wash before they sell them (used
to work at GW in Boston sorting donations).

I usually get about 25 blanketgs for $10
then spent $15 de-licing them

So, you actually spent $35 for 25 blankets.

The during cleanup you can collect new
blankets and repeat the cycle
these you must wash...and dry

Nah, let the pholks keep them.... especially if they got bugs.

3) the latest method for revising people
who have hypothermia is to use a machine to heat up some air than pipe
the air into the victims lungs.... the lungs
warm the blood which travels all over
the body....

a cheaper and non-mechanical
method would be to KISS someone....

Just rubbing someone will do the same.... rub them more so if you are
freindly.
