JUst Because...the gathering approaches

Went down to the river today, watched the waves jumping up and down,
there was a mother goose and her goslings not too far from where I sat,
and they seemed content to share their space with me...watched a river
barge work its way through the lock and dam, pushing another load of
corn to the southlands to feed the folks in need...I was amazed at how
much the river had been cleaned up, years ago it had a film on it, now
it runs clearer than even when I was a kid...on the AGR, the permit
issue, Karin's reposting of excellent articles, the rumors that be, and
Preacher Bill's comments are the main topics of conversation, the lure
of folks to point out who they believe are High Holies are abound.(Day
from Woodstock said it all in Montana, "Yes, I am a high holie, I come
here to get high and be holy!) I could not agree more...

The holding camps are set up by now, and one of them knows where the
site is, but which one? In a couple of weeks the rest of us find out,
and for those travelling, make sure your registration and insurance are
up to date and valid...travel clean, that is, get your goodies at the
gathering...be aware of traffic laws (here in Illinois if you don't
have insurance, they take your vehicle from you), if stopped, do not
consent to a search...be polite, bite your tongue, and remember, they
carry guns...be kind to all you meet...when You arrive at the
gathering, pitch in, help out, remember that cleanup starts the day you
arrive, recycle or reuse, look for the recycling spots set up...if you
are going towards welcomehome during the gathering, carry some trash
out...plug in to a kitchen...plug in to whatever Granola Funk has going
on...come to the Hipstories...dance like no one is watching...pick up a
bag of cigarette butts...hug someone you don't know (with their
consent, of course)...bliss out for a day...learn to drum the
heartbeat...go to a yoga workshop...go pester the folks at Info, visit
teepee village just for the hell of it...join the AGR get together, I
am told I look exactly the way folks think I do...but most of all, have
morphun (as per Thanksgiving Council 1996), Rainbow burnout is a no
no...take a break...gather, children, gather!!!
